Today’s topic is for those who may be selling luxury homes.
I regularly have sellers say to me, “We know we want to hire you to sell our home, but we don’t want to list it until next spring.” I want to debunk the myth that the fourth quarter is a bad time to sell.
In San Antonio specifically, there’s a great amount of corporate relocation. For luxury sellers, this nets you more money. When out-of-town buyers come in during the fourth quarter, that timing often eliminates them from buying new construction—i.e., building a new home for themselves. They’re searching for luxury homes that are ready to go.

Generally speaking, luxury sellers don’t want to sell during the Thanksgiving or Christmas seasons because they often have family in town, or are out of town themselves. So, if it does make sense for you to sell in the fourth quarter, congratulations! It’s always consistently our strongest quarter each year.
